Community Service is Crucial to Our 任务

Doing, 给, and Serving

Our students are enlightened, compassionate, and contributing members of our community. The Middle School service-learning program teaches students civic responsibility and the value of public service and building relationships within their own community.

Over the course of the year, students learn about issues that affect the Greater Toledo community, such as homelessness, 贫困, 读写能力, 和健康. Equipped with this knowledge students devote themselves to researching local issues on which they are passionate, designing materials to educate others about the cause, and acting on their civic responsibilities through service.

As a result of these community relationships, students simultaneously lend a helping hand while bonding with one another. Students also have the chance to get to know one another outside of the formal classroom and have the capacity to create new memories as they support one another and their community.

A full range of service opportunities exists within the Toledo area. The Middle School has created lasting relationships with several organizations and returns every year with new students. Many students continue to work with these organizations beyond Middle School.

校园服务

Students work on our grounds, 挖掘轨迹, 和覆盖, picking up garbage just to name a few things that keep our campus beautiful.
Cherry Street 任务

Cherry Street 任务: Students assist the 任务 in any way possible. Common tasks include preparing and serving food, packing boxes for guests, and other jobs. Students learn to respect and appreciate their lives as they work with the underprivileged.
Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity: Students work together with the Habitat team to design and build playhouses for families that can not afford them.
湾仔维景托莱多

Students offer their services to nature by assisting park rangers in a variety of jobs. Based on the need of the park, students help minimize invasive species, 收集种子, 或者清理垃圾.
海捷食品银行

海捷食品银行: Students create food boxes for the elderly and often have spirited competitions to see who can produce the most boxes.
Sunshine of Northwest Ohio

Sunshine of Northwest Ohio: Students transport the residents from across campus to their living quarters.
Swan Creek Retirement

Swan Creek Retirement: Students socialize and get to know the residents ... and often will play Bingo or Uno.
University Church Garden

University Church Garden: This 8-acre urban garden is dedicated to “utilize the land we have available for the good of the community” and spreading awareness of 贫困 in the Toledo area. Students assist in a variety of ways depending on the season and the garden’s needs.
